SuppliesOil Cloth Apron Project

  • 1 yard of Oil Cloth Fabric
  • 2 3/4 yard of Twill or Grosgrain for ties
  • Thread
  • 1 yard of Brown Wrapping Paper to draw out pattern

  1. Follow the pattern sketch dimensions below. Create your pattern by drawing out the apron shape onto paper.
  2. Fold Oil Cloth in half lengthwise. Place pattern on fold. Pin and cut out. You will have to clip the curves through the arm area so that the Oil Cloth will lay flat when you are sewing the hem.
  3. Hem all the way around using a double fold with hemming being approximately 3/8”.
  4. Cut the twill into one yard strips. Fold each end over twice, attach one apron strip sewing in place at point marked on the pattern below.
  5. Do the same thing for the other side. Finish the ends by sewing folds together.
  6. Attach the neck strap in the same fashion as the waist ties. Adjust the length of the strap to your own size.
